WILDLIFE VIEWING & PHOTO SAFARI TRIP
ON THE
MIDDLE FORK SALMON RIVER

We are bringing this back from the Hughes River Vault.  Jerry & Carole did an annual Wildlife Viewing & Photography trip each of the first 15+ seasons after they started the company and now it is back!

During the early spring season the Middle Fork Salmon River corridor becomes a highway for ungulates that are in transition moving between their winter and summer ground.  These animals include; Big Horn Sheep, Goats, Elk and Mule Deer.  Other animals that are likely to be spotted include Black Bear, Otter, Ermine, Marmots, Bald & Golden Eagles and a wide variety of other birds of prey.

Plan on a full-amenity, cozy Hughes camping set up each night with all the stops!  Three deluxe meals each day and a ton of fun on and off the water!  We will camp at the hot springs as much as possible and take our time down through the canyon for the full wildlife viewing experience!  There will be time for side hikes through known passages and other side attractions such as pictographs and 19th & 20th century homesteads.  Bring your warmies and get ready for an absolutely amazing opportunity to see this Middle Fork of the Salmon River corridor come to life going!

DATES & RATES

This is a rare chance to see and photograph many of the various ungulates moving through the Middle Fork Salmon corridor from their low elevation wintering grounds toward their high mountain summering grounds!  We invite you to join us on an amazing wildlife viewing and photographing trip where we will have the chance to see and photograph Elk, Mountain Goat, Big Horn Sheep and Mule Deer in their annual migration as well as other animals that live in the corridor.

“I am so happy to have gotten to spend time with you in your environment.  You clearly found your niche those years ago.  I/we had a great time.  I met some very interesting people and have new friends.  River time is curative of almost all ills.  It was great for me in many ways.  You have a great team.  You are turning over the reins to a very competent young man – Colin.  I look forward to more river trips with your outfit…”
J. Menzner, Boise, ID (2016)
The trip was great – Such a beautiful canyon and river, we had a wonderful time! Great beauty, many laughs and wonderful food! Will be back again soon!
L. Thomas, Camp Sherman, OR (2005)
We really enjoyed our trip this past week on the Middle Fork. My daughter, Barrie (6 years old) had a great time. I don’t think I have ever seen her have as much fun.
B. Wright, Cleveland, MS (2006)
Thank you for another outstanding trip. You guys always go the extra mile to make these trips awesome! Buzz, Aaron, Marshall, Matt, and Colin were fabulous guides (as always)! The company, the food, and the wilderness – you couldn’t ask for anything better! Thank you so very much! I would so much like to be back on the river, listening to the calming (and rushing) water, soaking up the sun and fresh air, enjoying the solitude and peacefulness …with good friends.
M. Proce, Knoxville, MD (2009)
Thank you so much to you and your team for a fabulous trip! … As you know, this was my first river-rafting and camping trip and you and your team made it a fantastic experience…. Thank you for a wonderful memory!
K. Peters, San Francisco, CA (2014)
What an outstanding operation!  This company’s river guides are the best I’ve come across.  My family has rafted the Grand Canyon, Cataract Canyon, and a host of others with professional guides.  Hughes company was by far and away the best we have ever used.  Everything they did was excellent.  The food was incredible, the service top notch, and their staff and guides were warm, fun, and very attentive.  Don’t hesitate to book with this company!
P. Lowe, Ogden, UT (2018)
I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you that our trip down the Middle Fork was such a very, very special time for us that it will remain in our hearts and minds for years to come. Very seldom does a week go by that we don’t mention something that we did or learned on the river, and as the years turn to decades… I know we will always cherish your companionship.
J. Lehman, Dallas, TX (1986)
Thank you to my guides and other guests.  The sky, the land, the river were all awesome.  This was a most memorable adventure.
Cote, Levittown, NY (2021)
